US Ambassador Cormack Arrives in Sarajevo Today

As announced by the US Embassy, US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack is arriving in Sarajevo today, writes the Patria News Agency.

In a message she sent to the citizens of BiH via social networks, Ambassador Cormack emphasized that the US has long been a loyal friend and ally of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

- I look forward to working with you and our European partners to get BiH back on the right track towards joining the European Union and NATO alliance - the ambassador said on that occasion.

In her message to the citizens of BiH, she stressed that the US remains determined to be BiH's strongest partner on the path to joining the European Union and NATO alliance.

Cormack took the oath of office on January 6 in Washington, and numerous State Department officials attended the ceremony. The US has not had an ambassador in BiH since the end of August 2013, when Patrick Moon left office, as the confirmation of Maureen Cormack's appointment, nominated by President Barack Obama, was long awaited in the US Senate, as was the case with more than 50 other ambassadorial candidates.

The Senate finally confirmed her appointment in November last year.

Since Patrick Moon's departure, Nicholas Hill has served as Chargé d'Affaires.
