Amer Osmić Denies Mirhunisa Komarica: Between 150,000 and 300,000 Citizens Have Left BiH in the Last Decade

(Patria) - Doctor at the Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Sarajevo Amer Osmić claims that between 150,000 and 300,000 citizens have left BiH in the last ten years, reports Slobodna Bosna.

In this way, he denied the president of the Union for Sustainable Return and Integration in BiH, Mirhunisa Komarica, who says that more than 100,000 citizens leave our country every year.

It is ungrateful and very difficult, says Osmić, to give any projections about how many residents have left BiH in the past period.

- We have some projections given by certain non-governmental organizations or independent experts. However, without official data, it is very difficult to say how many residents have left in a certain period - says Osmić.

He considers it irresponsible towards society to say that we have 3.5 million today, as many as in 2013, as well as that we have less than three million.

- Saying that we have below three million is also irresponsible because we have no official or any other indicators for that.

Some projections indicate that BiH, in this ten-year period since 2013, has actually lost between 150,000 and 300,000 residents - states Osmić.

He adds that the reasons are numerous - from the political situation to poor economic parameters.

Let us recall, although there are no precise official data on the number of BiH citizens who have left the homeland to live and work in other countries, citing her own sources, Mirhunisa Komarica repeats every year the claim that more than 100,000 citizens leave BiH annually.

She has been making such claims for several decades, and if they were true, it would mean that no one lives in BiH anymore and that everyone has long since emigrated to the West.

Specifically, two years ago Komarica said that as many as 170,000 citizens left BiH during 2021.
