Amer Obradović: 'Returnee Card' for Easier Exercise of Rights

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the last session of the House of Representatives of the Federation Parliament, Independent Bloc representative Amer Obradović launched an initiative to introduce a "returnee card", a special ID card intended for returnees from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Republika Srpska entity.

This document would serve as a basis for the Federation's institutions to more clearly track donations, and would make it easier for returnees to exercise their rights at the entity, cantonal, and municipal levels without the need for re-registration and replacement of personal documents.

Namely, a large number of returnees to RS are forced to register their residence in municipalities in the Federation due to difficulties in exercising their rights to social, health, and veteran-disability protection. Because of this, they are deprived of some of their civil rights in RS, including the right to vote.

"The connection between residence and ID card with social, health, and veteran-disability protection is the key to the problems and challenges faced by re-registering returnees. The introduction of a 'returnee card' could solve this problem, especially since a similar solution was previously proposed by the Federal Ministry of Displaced Persons and Refugees," said Obradović.

In his initiative, he stated that he expects the Government of the FBiH to support this project and allocate funds for its implementation.
