Amer Bekan files criminal complaint against CEC

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The president of the First Party, Amer Bekan, has filed a criminal complaint against the CEC (Central Election Commission).

Bekan stated that he filed the criminal complaint with the Prosecutor's Office of BiH due to criminal offenses of unauthorized use of personal data, denial of the right to vote, violation of the freedom of voter choice, destruction of election documents, and association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses.

- According to the official data of the Central Election Commission as of August 23, 2018, there are 3,352,993 voters registered in the central voter registry, and according to data from the state Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDDEEA), the total number of citizens possessing an ID card is 3,101,473. The Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Data Exchange (IDDEEA) is responsible for the civil registry of citizens from which the central voter registry is generated.

Considering the above, it follows that over approximately 250,000 citizens of BiH who do not possess an ID card are registered in the central voter registry. The aforementioned data has existed for years, which means that previous elections were conducted using inconsistent data. Inter alia, the number of issued BiH ID cards that does not match the number of registered voters for the October elections indicates possible irregularities by the CEC in the upcoming elections, which have the characteristics of criminal offenses under Articles 149, 150, 151, and 154 of the Criminal Code of BiH - Amer Bekan stated in the criminal complaint.
