US Ambassador and Reis Kavazović: Discussed marking the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide

Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović received the newly appointed US Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Maureen Elizabeth Cormack, reports the Patria News Agency.

The Ambassador said that she had been eagerly awaiting her arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Reis-ul-ulema wished the Ambassador a warm welcome to Bosnia and Herzegovina, a pleasant stay, and success in her work.

Ambassador Cormack inquired about the organization and work of the Islamic Community, which the Reis-ul-ulema informed her about. She was also interested in the work of the Interreligious Council and the future of interreligious dialogue. She asked what the Islamic Community was planning for the commemoration of the twentieth anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide.

Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović stated that the Islamic Community has certain plans, one of which is organizing a scientific conference on Srebrenica, to which a number of participants from the USA will also be invited.

The Reis-ul-ulema thanked the American Embassy for the Access program implemented in the madrasas and expressed hope that the program would continue. The Ambassador promised that the program would continue as it is also considered successful by their assessment, it was announced from the Riyaset.
