Ambassador of Canada to BiH visited the BiH Central Election Commission

(Patria) - Caroline Charette, Ambassador of Canada to Hungary, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina based in Budapest and Neelu Shanker, Political and Public Affairs Advisor of the Embassy visited the Central Election Commission of BiH today, 09.12.2021, where they met with the President and members of the BiH CEC.

During the meeting, they discussed the activities undertaken by the Central Election Commission of BiH with the aim of strengthening the integrity, transparency and efficiency of the electoral process in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the contribution of the Central Election Commission of BiH to the reform of electoral legislation in BiH. The Initiative for the adoption of the Law on Amendments to the Election Law of BiH, which the Central Election Commission of BiH submitted to the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH on 16.09.2021, was also presented.

They also discussed the numerous challenges faced by the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina in its work and the planned activities of the Central Election Commission of BiH regarding the upcoming General Elections in BiH. Ambassador Charette thanked the Central Election Commission of BiH for its openness and emphasized that Canada always supports the development of democracy.
