Minister of Defence of BiH Zekerijah Osmić, Deputy Minister for Policy and Plans Marina Pendeš and Deputy Minister for Resource Management Živko Marjanac with associates received today in a courtesy visit the Ambassador of the United States of America to BiH Maureen E. Cormack, whom they welcomed and wished success in performing her duties in BiH, announced the Ministry of Defence of BiH, as reported by the Bosnian news agency Patria.
The discussion covered the activities of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH on the path towards Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as cooperation between the United States of America and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of defence.
Minister Osmić thanked for the comprehensive assistance and support provided so far by the USA to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and expressed confidence that bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries, including in the defence sector, will continue and further strengthen during her mandate. Minister Osmić particularly highlighted good cooperation with the Maryland National Guard, the US Defence Attaché to BiH Colonel Scott Miller, and the Office of Defence Cooperation of the US Embassy in BiH.
The discussion also covered fulfilling conditions for BiH's admission to MAP, resolving surplus weapons, participation of members of the Armed Forces of BiH in peace support operations, the document "Defence Review", as well as other current issues in the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH.
Ambassador Cormack was informed that the Ministry of Defence of BiH has done far more than other institutions in BiH in preparing and fulfilling the technical conditions for MAP.
Ambassador Cormack particularly praised the engagement of the Armed Forces of BiH during the floods, when the response of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of BiH "was impressive." She expressed the commitment and strong support of the US Government for the continuation of reforms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as support for Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to Euro-Atlantic integration.
Ambassador Cormack was accompanied in the courtesy visit to the Ministry of Defence of BiH by the US Defence Attaché to BiH Colonel Scott Miller.
