Ambassador Zeko discusses better BiH-Jordan relations

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mato Zeko, met on February 15, 2021, at the JIC premises, with the Secretary General of the Jordanian Investment Commission (JIC), Fareedon Hartoqa. The meeting discussed JIC's experiences in promoting and attracting foreign investments during the coronavirus epidemic, and cooperation between JIC and FIPA.

Secretary General Hartoqa pointed out that JIC has established cooperation with many foreign agencies or bodies dealing with the promotion of foreign investments and that they are ready to cooperate and communicate with FIPA in the same way. He added that almost all JIC activities since the outbreak of the epidemic are conducted online through various applications, which is visible on their website where a range of electronic services are offered to both domestic and foreign investors.

Ambassador Zeko also informed his interlocutor about additional activities of the Embassy in strengthening economic cooperation between BiH and Jordan, such as establishing a direct charter airline during the summer months from Amman to Sarajevo, which was agreed upon in 2020 but postponed due to the coronavirus, then easing or abolishing the visa regime for Jordanian citizens, which would also contribute to increasing the number of tourists in BiH, and cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Industry.

It was mutually concluded that, in addition to institutional connections, it would be desirable to strengthen ties between the private sectors of both countries, which can influence the executive authorities towards strengthening bilateral economic relations.
