Ambassador Reilly: The statehood of RS, and thus its celebration, is not in line with the Dayton Peace Agreement

(Patria) - The Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina is unambiguous: BiH is a single, sovereign state consisting of two entities and Brčko District, stated the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to BiH Julian Reilly.

"The Dayton Peace Agreement provides the legal and constitutional framework for BiH, and all actors and signatories must respect it. The United Kingdom has a clear position that the statehood of Republika Srpska, and thus its celebration, is not in line with the Dayton Peace Agreement.

We also call on the authorities in Republika Srpska to respect and implement the recent interim measure of the Constitutional Court of BiH on the Law on the Use of the Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem.

Words have weight. Political leaders and public figures have a special responsibility in using language that promotes stability, dialogue, and reconciliation, not division.

The United Kingdom, together with our international partners, remains committed to ensuring that the thirty years of peace, stability, and progress achieved through the Dayton Peace Agreement are preserved, in the interest of all citizens of BiH," Reilly emphasized.
