Ambassador Moore Assumes Duty as Head of OSCE Mission

The new Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Jonathan Moore, assumed his duties in Sarajevo on September 3, 2014. 

- It is a great honor for me to be the Head of the OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I have worked in this Mission before, during the elections held in 1996. BiH has made significant progress since then, although many challenges still lie ahead, and the OSCE can provide assistance through its work on issues of stability, reconciliation, and institutional development - said Moore.

- The upcoming elections in October will be very important, and I look forward to meeting many candidates and voters in the coming days. The OSCE Mission, which has offices throughout the country, will continue to cooperate with domestic partners on the development of education, administration, and justice systems capable of respecting human rights and the rule of law. I look forward to cooperating with Switzerland, which chairs the OSCE, and the OSCE will also focus its work on regional cooperation, in light of the fact that Serbia will assume the OSCE chairmanship next year - said Moore.

Moore, a professional diplomat in the U.S. Senior Foreign Service, has extensive experience in the Western Balkans and Eastern Europe. He served in Bosnia and Herzegovina as Political Advisor to the Head of the OSCE Mission in 1996 and as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy from 2009 to 2012. Before assuming his duties as Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH, Moore served as Director of the Office of Southern and Central Europe at the U.S. Department of State. He also served at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade.

Moore succeeded Ambassador Fletcher M. Burton in this position.
