Ambassador of BiH to Sweden Bojan Šošić presents credentials to King Carl XVI Gustaf

(Patria) - Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Kingdom of Sweden Bojan Šošić presented his credentials to King Carl XVI Gustaf on 7 December 2023, thereby officially assuming the position of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Kingdom of Sweden. The credential presentation ceremony was held at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.

On that occasion, Ambassador Šošić emphasised the potential of the large and exceptionally well-integrated Bosnian and Herzegovinian diaspora in the Kingdom of Sweden for renewing and deepening economic and cultural ties between the two countries, as well as the fact that significant relations in this area existed even before the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina. King Carl XVI Gustaf expressed interest in the recovery of Bosnian and Herzegovinian society in the post-war period, recalling his visit to our country when Bosnia and Herzegovina was still facing the challenge of uncleared minefields and unexploded ordnance.

In the continuation of the conversation, topics of global political developments and security challenges were touched upon, as well as the general damage that wars inflict on civilisation through immeasurable human casualties and the destruction of cultural heritage. The Swedish king also commented on contemporary challenges in the field of human rights protection and welcomed the fact that Ambassador Šošić, in his previous professional engagement, had cooperated in this domain precisely with Swedish organisations. He particularly highlighted the process of the Kingdom of Sweden's accession to NATO and expressed confidence that there would soon be an opportunity for further discussion on this topic.
