US Embassy warns Dodik: We will not tolerate any attempt at secession of RS, entities do not exist outside the state of BiH

(Patria) - The creation of a parallel electoral system by the RS government would be unconstitutional and anti-Dayton, and would deprive RS voters of fundamental democratic rights guaranteed to them by the BiH Constitution.

This was stated by the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in response to the announced adoption of the RS election law in the entity's assembly, which will be discussed at a session next week.

"Any election conducted under an unconstitutional, parallel electoral system would have no legitimacy, and those who participate in their organization would be engaging in anti-democratic, unconstitutional, and anti-Dayton activities.

The United States has been clear that it is ready to respond to anti-Dayton actions by local actors, and that it supports the High Representative's actions to do the same.

Milorad Dodik is wrong if he thinks the US will stand by while he pursues his secessionist agenda and pushes BiH toward conflict.

Any attempt at secession by an entity or any other sub-state unit is an anti-Dayton action that will not be tolerated.

Republika Srpska is an entity within the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is an integral part of the state, and neither RS nor the Federation exist outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
