US Embassy: Transparency of the electoral process in focus at the start of talks in Neum

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Embassy of the United States of America in BiH commented on Twitter about the talks on BiH's electoral legislation that have been ongoing since yesterday in Neum, stating that the discussions are focused on the recommendations of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR-OSCE).

"These reforms are clear. The priority is oversight of electoral commissions and new technologies to prevent and detect electoral fraud, as well as higher penalties to deter perpetrators from violating the law. We are pleased that our colleagues from ODIHR are here today to discuss these reforms," the US Embassy stated.

"There is no reason for political leaders to oppose these common-sense changes, unless they benefit from the system's shortcomings," the US Embassy in BiH stated.
