US Embassy supports Schmidt: Dodik has launched another attack on Dayton, a new step on the path to isolation

(Patria) - Milorad Dodik's threat to prevent the High Representative from entering the Bosnian-Herzegovinian (BiH) entity Republika Srpska and to restrict his freedom of movement is unconstitutional, according to a reaction from the US Embassy today.

"This represents another deliberate attack by Mr. Dodik on the Dayton Peace Agreement, the constitutional order of BiH, and the state of BiH. The High Representative is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the civilian aspects of the Dayton Peace Agreement, which obliges officials to cooperate with him, and he enjoys diplomatic status throughout BiH under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Dodik's reckless threats and ridiculous claims about the status and authority of the High Representative are unacceptable and represent another step on the dangerous path he has chosen – the path of isolation", they state.

The United States fully supports the High Representative and his use of Bonn powers when necessary, and will continue to hold accountable those individuals who engage in anti-Dayton behavior.
