(Patria) - The US Embassy issued a statement regarding yesterday's ceremonial welcome that Federal Minister of Interior Ramo Isak organized for the acting director of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) Vahidin Munjić and the head of the FUP special unit Mustafa Selmanović.
"It is shocking that the FBiH Minister of Interior, who is responsible for upholding the rule of law, would celebrate the return to work of senior FBiH Police Administration officials who were arrested, charged, and under investigation for serious crimes.

These police officials have the right to defend themselves against any charges in court, but the charges against them are not cause for celebration.
A betrayal of public trust occurs when law enforcement, prosecution, or judiciary officials, who are responsible for upholding the rule of law, are accused of violating it.
It is contrary to a commitment to the rule of law for the FBiH Ministry of Interior to allow police officials who are under investigation for abuse of office to return to work.
Public officials under investigation for abuse of office should be suspended until the investigation is concluded," the US Embassy in BiH stated.
