US Embassy: Some RS Government Officials Have Chosen to Raise Tensions and Further Divide the People in BiH

(Patria) - Citizens of BiH have the right to respectfully commemorate all innocent victims of past wars, the US Embassy in BiH stated today in a post on social network X.

"This includes the victims of the horrible crimes and massacres committed by the forces of the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) and the Nazis in the aftermath of the Partisan offensive on Kozara in 1942, as well as the victims of the genocide committed in and around Srebrenica, which were perpetrated by elements of the VRS in July 1995.

We all have an obligation to acknowledge the truth about these and other war crimes committed on the territory of BiH, as well as to pay tribute to the victims. This applies especially to BiH officials - Bosniak, Croat, Serb, and others - at all levels of government.

Unfortunately, some officials of the RS Government have chosen to instrumentalize the visit of Serbian police and military cadets to BiH on July 6 and 7 in order to raise tensions and further divide the people in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Deliberately provocative rhetoric and activities, especially in Prijedor, during the same week of commemorating the Srebrenica genocide, were irresponsible and undermine efforts to promote reconciliation," the US Embassy stated.
