US Embassy and Chollet: Credible 2022 elections need support of all parties

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A meeting between SDA President Bakir Izetbegović and HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović with senior political advisor to the US Secretary of State Derek Chollet was held at the residence of the US ambassador. The meeting was also attended by Gabriel Escobar, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, and Ambassador Eric Nelson.  

"Bosnian leaders cannot substitute words for action when it comes to the functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina's institutions. Sovereignty means responsible leadership to build solutions. The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina should see which leaders are working to fulfill the promise of Bosnia and Herzegovina's potential, and those who are not must be held accountable," stated the US Embassy.

Chollet himself also spoke:

"I met with the Chairman of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly Dragan Čović and the other Vice President Bakir Izetbegović to appeal for leadership, confidence-building, and the functionality of the Federation entity necessary for BiH's stability and EU path. More transparent and credible 2022 elections need the support of all parties," Chollet stated.
