US Embassy: We Guarantee the Dayton Peace Agreement

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States of America Gabriel Escobar held meetings today with members of the BiH Presidency, the collegiums of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

- Deputy Assistant Secretary Escobar reminded the members of the BiH Presidency and representatives of the BiH and FBiH parliaments of the need to convince citizens of the commitment to peace and progress of BiH as a sovereign state. Dialogue and work through institutions on the rule of law, electoral and economic reforms will build a more functional BiH in which both entities and Brčko District progress, and authorities at all levels are capable of fulfilling obligations and the European perspective. 

Everyone in BiH has the US guarantee for the Dayton Peace Agreement and strong support for the fight against the common enemy of corruption and for building, step by step, mutual trust and greater prosperity. The Western Balkans has great economic potential that is best unlocked through regional economic cooperation and meeting European standards. Discussing withdrawal from state-level institutions creates regulatory and legal uncertainty that will harm RS and undermine the economic prospects of BiH and the region. It is in everyone's interest to return to the table – they emphasized.
