Alija Tabaković new president of SDA Srebrenica

In the hall of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly today, with the presence of 34 delegates, the Electoral Assembly of the SDA Srebrenica Municipal Board was held, where Alija Tabaković was elected president.

Based on proposals from the field, a total of eight candidates were proposed, and the SDA Personnel Committee gave consent for Alija Tabaković, Nermin Alivuković, and Azir Osmanović. By the will of the delegates at today's assembly, Tabaković won the largest number of votes.

During the session, vice-presidents Azir Osmanović, Nermin Alivuković, and Nedib Smajić, as well as the Executive Board, were also elected.

At the very beginning of the session, the attendees were addressed by the president of the SDA Srebrenica Commission, Ramiz Salkić, vice-president of the BiH entity of the RS.

-I believe this is a great victory for the SDA in Srebrenica. This assembly shows that the party is vital and has its quality. About 500 registered members in Srebrenica participated in the electoral process, which shows that the new leadership has a good base. I am glad that we managed to overcome the deep divisions that existed. We went through a very difficult period. I expect that the party will achieve a convincing victory in the upcoming elections in Srebrenica, said Salkić. 

More than a year ago, a Commission was introduced in SDA Srebrenica, and Ramiz Salkić was appointed as commissioner. Through persistent work, together with other members of the Commission, the political situation in Srebrenica was stabilized.

During the past months, after holding 16 sessions of the Commission, all necessary procedures were carried out, as well as elections in 12 local boards, after which the election of the new president of SDA Srebrenica was undertaken.

What is particularly important in the entire process is the fact that the majority of delegates, as well as the new party leadership, consist mainly of younger generations of Srebrenica residents.

The newly appointed president Alija Tabaković, a professor, was born in 1979 in Osmače near Srebrenica. He was the president of the SDA Club in the Municipal Assembly, and currently holds the position of president of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly.

In recent years, Tabaković has been active in the fight for the rights of Bosniaks in this city, especially regarding the right to the Bosnian language and the national group of subjects.
