Alibabić: A minority government is a chance for USK

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Today, at an extraordinary session of the Unsko-Sanski Canton Assembly, the Decision on temporary financing of the Health Insurance Fund of this canton was adopted, which enabled the payment of salaries to healthcare workers. However, the current Government of USK still lacks the support of the majority in the Assembly to adopt other materials, and its credibility has been shaken by the affair with the recording of Prime Minister Mustafa Ružnić, in which he talks about his intention to introduce a state of emergency and dissolve the Assembly. On this occasion, Naša stranka representative Vildana Alibabić stated:

“Today it was confirmed that the salaries of healthcare workers would not have been delayed for a single day if we had considered the decision on temporary financing of the Health Insurance Fund in December, as was done in previous years. Why we didn't, those who devised this crisis know the answer. It is now clear to everyone that this crisis was deliberately produced. The livelihoods of healthcare workers were manipulated to catch some representative in a web of compassion or fear, to vote for the budget and other documents offered at the last session under tremendous pressure of public dissatisfaction. If the opposition had succumbed to that pressure, I am convinced that the Assembly would not have had even two sessions before the elections.

We have been warning for a long time that the goal of NES and Prime Minister Ružnić is to abolish parliamentarism and parliamentary control over the work of the Government. The Prime Minister confirmed today that it is his voice on the recording circulating on social networks, but that it was a conversation from 2020. So much the worse for him! Even if it was at that time, in a situation where the whole world was in immense fear due to the unknowns surrounding the pandemic, when I, as an opposition member, voted for the government's budget proposal so that funds would be operational in such uncertain times, the Prime Minister was casually rubbing his hands and maliciously smirking because the state of emergency offered him an opportunity to transfer the Assembly's competencies to the Government. This only shows that controlling the budget and spending it for the purpose of buying votes is the only policy of NES.

Today, healthcare workers breathed a sigh of relief, but in about ten days, the salaries of other budget users may be delayed. This Government, which cannot secure a majority in the Assembly, has an instrument of blackmail – budget users. If the opposition is to adopt materials only to avoid delaying the salaries of budget users, while knowing that these materials are bad, and the people who will implement them are even worse, then we don't need a government, nor an assembly, nor a position, nor an opposition, nor elections.

The authorities, as well as the public, must understand that the purpose of the canton's existence is not budget users. Both the canton and the budget and budget users exist for the citizens. For the citizens who fill that budget in order to have quality public services and a good standard of living. But they have neither, and because of that, they are leaving the country en masse. However, this government is not worried about that. This government is only worried about how to get its hands on the budget and continue to buy votes.

Naša stranka sees a way out of this situation in an attempt to form a minority government composed of left-wing and liberal political options, for which there are concrete promises of necessary support in the Assembly. Another option is the formation of a government of Krajina unity or salvation, in which most of the parties participating in the Assembly would take part. We would support either of these two options, but a government in which NES plays a dominant role, under no circumstances,” stated representative Alibabić.
