If "Komos" goes bankrupt, more than 135 workers will lose their jobs

Representatives of minority shareholders of the public utility company "Komos" from Mostar claim that the city authorities of Mostar are deliberately ruining this state-owned company. Because of this, in Mostar, the minority shareholders claim, more than 135 workers could soon lose their jobs, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

The public utility company "Komos" has been facing problems for some time, which is why waste collection from certain parts of the city has been quite difficult for a while. Workers of "Komos" have completely halted waste collection from Mostar on several occasions this year, demanding from the city authorities the payment of overdue wages.

Mirnes Turbo, director of the company General Servis, which holds about 11 percent of shares in "Komos", claims that representatives of the city of Mostar, which is the majority shareholder in "Komos", are deliberately and systematically working to ruin "Komos".

He recalls that this state-owned company has multi-million assets, but in April this year, the director of "Komos", Vesna Mrgan-Karanović, filed a proposal for bankruptcy proceedings before the Municipal Court in Mostar. Turbo claims that Mrgan-Karanović did not have the consent of the company's bodies for this.

-   The city authorities want to destroy this state-owned company at any cost. "Komos" has been operating without a Supervisory Board for two years. Allocations for this public company are decreasing every year. And the true value of the assets this company holds has never been determined - Turbo claims.

-   The city authorities already made a decision in 2005 to assign the rehabilitation of uncategorized roads and maintenance of public city lighting to private companies. By adopting such a decision, harmful to the business interests of the company "Komos", the city of Mostar, as the majority owner, significantly reduced the company's revenue, which further complicated the operations of this company - he added.

The minority shareholders of "Komos" are convinced that the company has a future. They strongly oppose the implementation of bankruptcy proceedings against the company and insist on the implementation of the program of measures for the company's recovery, which was recently adopted at the Assembly of this state-owned company, writes NAP.
