If SDA is democracy, what is SDP...?

The formation of the Social Democratic Movement (SDP) under the baton of ZL, and to the script of SDA, is an attempt to gather some political figures who are believed to (still) enjoy prestige among (in)active voters and who could (as such) pull a significant voting body of pro-Bosnian forces gathered under one flag or paw, for now, there is no significant difference. And that is obvious even to the politically illiterate.

Personally, I have no trust in any of the most mentioned actors of this undertaking. I didn't have it before the announcement of this move, which in political terms balances on the edge of a sword between banality, bizarreness, and insulting intelligence on one hand, and on the other, a brilliant, life-saving, and the first serious pro-Bosnian practical idea in implementation... Behind all of them together and each individually, there is too much (pre)history of murky waters of the past, personal financial security, not sharing the fate of subjects, both party and civic... which - all together and individually, as SDP and by name - leaves too much room for justified skepticism about the motives of all and each of the actors, and most of all the initiators and leaders. This unpleasant and justifiably suspicious impression is significantly contributed to by the fact that neither in the initiative committee, nor among the names mentioned in the corridors, nor among those interested in supporting the idea, are there personalities with a rich and unquestionable political past... there are no new, but known names, let alone young forces that would at least by their appearance show that this is not the penultimate "February" of faded political tomcats... for now, we haven't heard anything that hasn't been chewed, swallowed, and vomited thousands of times... And here everything is already too well-known and clear.

Furthermore, the question of motive(tion) is extremely questionable. Is this a pre-congress story of the one caught between electing himself president and electing him as reis (he has already elected the other as speaker of the parliament)? Or is it just a zombie-like or vampiric resurrection of that which persistently refuses to die politically? How much sincerity is there in all of this, and how much political deception? How many bad moves are needed for their initiators and propagators to realize that perhaps the best thing they can do for Bosnia and Herzegovina is to leave politics and go babysit their grandchildren? What all of them – and each – of the named initiators of the new movement have presented us with so far (I'm not entirely convinced by this term either, considering their respectable age) does not inspire confidence at all, let alone offer hope. And I assume that is quite clear to everyone – both the initiators and the Bosniaks and the Others.

However, what is not clear is: is it good or bad for Bosnia and Herzegovina? The answer is tersely simple: it depends on what it turns into. The fact is that SDA is existentially interested in BiH, albeit, for now, conceived exclusively with SDA at the helm of the Bosniak lifeboat on the Bosnian ship... until further notice, which from SDA's perspective means forever, and from the perspective of some other forces, until the cards on the Balkan side of the European table are dealt a little differently – for better or worse.

Experientially distrustful of the old and therefore, among other things, cautious and skeptical of new, especially pro-Bosnian forces, we have not a single reason to believe in the good intentions and good outcome of projects and movements initiated by the old, however new they may sound. To make matters worse, this one doesn't even sound new.

I want to believe that most of us know what we want: we want to stop seeing them. Unfortunately, this wish will not come true for Eid, nor for Christmas, nor for New Year... although, by next Easter, anything could happen... So, our wish will not come true not because Santa Claus doesn't exist, but mostly because we, the voters, have a say in fulfilling this wish, and we are not given the chance to vote or change anything. However, let's not lie, there isn't much of a choice. On the other hand, even when something new appears, it very quickly turns out that people are (quite) perishable goods... However, unlike perishable food, people spoil after their expiration date. Anyway...

Decades of failed start-ups are behind us... we are all damaged, drained, tired, worn out by bad political projects and even worse political moves that have brought nothing good... On the contrary, they have brought more disappointment, apathy, and disinterest (the last characteristics of dying nations and societies). We all urgently and necessarily need some positive story that will at least pull us a little out of the septic tank into which we have been submerged for too long.

Be that as it may, this whole story, despite immeasurable skepticism, has the potential to turn into anything and everything. Mostly into what we need the least... if at all. To put it briefly, all of this can very easily turn into a generational undertaking (at least so that all those listed withdraw from the political scene and TV screens), but also an epic fail of the Rambo type (since we mentioned diving): look at the diver, the water is up to his knees... with a special emphasis on the part after the tide comes in.
