If you want to eat donkey cheese, shell out 1,000 euros for a kilogram!

Donkey milk is in demand. On the market, it costs at least 40 KM per liter, and in Croatia, reportedly up to 250 KM, writes the Patria News Agency.

"Donkey milk, in its composition, is most similar to mother's milk and is much healthier than cow's milk because it contains less fat and more lactose, is extremely medicinal in treating asthma, bronchitis, allergies, and strengthening immunity, and supposedly has aphrodisiac properties," writes Mladen Vuković in the book "The Donkey Goes to Heaven," a true anthology about donkeys, as they are commonly called in Herzegovina.

Near Sremska Mitrovica in Serbia, there is a donkey reserve where cheese is also produced at a price of up to 1,000 euros per kilogram.

It is no wonder that the ancient queen Cleopatra, who loved to bathe in donkey milk for the beauty and freshness of her skin and complexion, kept as many as 500 donkeys.
