Academic Filipović in Brčko: Statehood Day does not have to be celebrated, but it must be respected

Delegations of the Brčko Coordination of Veterans' Associations of the Army of RBiH and political parties, by laying flowers and wreaths at the monument to fallen soldiers of the Army of RBiH, marked November 25 – Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After that, a formal academy was held at the Brčko Home of Culture, attended by academic Muhamed Filipović, who said that Brčko is Bosnia in the big picture, that Bosnia is present in Brčko to its full capacity, and that Brčko is of exceptional importance for the entire BiH. Filipović also commented on the fact that Statehood Day is not marked throughout the country, saying that it is a matter of elementary culture.

- There are uncultured people among us, who unfortunately have gained power in certain regions and in certain places, who do not respect that day. I don't have to particularly respect your holiday, but I must respect you. Your holiday is also a holiday for me. That is the logic of friendship, that is the logic of neighborliness, that is the logic of cultural and civilized life. We can do nothing about the existence of people who are not civilized and cultured, that is God's gift. But it will disappear. Everyone has contributed to creating confusion in this country and preventing it from living normally. But we, ordinary people, are paying the price for those immoderate and insane ambitions - emphasized Filipović, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
