Academician Duraković: Bosniaks can survive only in a multi-ethnic BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Academician Esad Duraković, in the show Pressing hosted by editor and presenter Amir Zukić on N1, spoke about the dangers threatening BiH, including its disintegration, the insufficient reaction of Bosniak politicians and pro-Bosnian forces to everything that is happening in and around BiH. He warned that there is no one to defend BiH and that this leads to the disintegration of BiH.

Academician Duraković stated that Bosniak politicians clearly lack vision. He is disappointed by the absence of a serious reaction, both within BiH and towards the world, due to the "revival of the Croatian Republic of Herceg Bosna," which was also designated as part of a joint criminal enterprise by the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal (after the Mechanism).

The academician also publicly addressed the High Representative Valentin Inzko, asking him to react to moves that endanger BiH. As he stated, the High Representative, who is most responsible, de facto and de jure, for the situation and future of this country, is extremely and unacceptably passive, which is a form of complicity.

"Mr. High Representative, Mr. Inzko, I implore you as an intellectual of Bosnia and Herzegovina to finally show that you have professional integrity and dignity. I apologize for speaking this way because it has been evident all along that it is lacking. I beg you, show that integrity, intervene where intervention is necessary. We do not need you to wrap yourself in the BiH flag at matches and tell us through the media that we have Džeko. We need you to protect this country, that is why you are here. If you cannot do that, say so where it needs to be said and resign. Mr. High Representative, give us an opportunity to praise you, to praise your professionalism and integrity. If the High Representative, who has the highest authority, constantly remains silent as he does, I don't know when he last reacted, if he constantly remains silent, then he is objectively an accomplice in the possible disintegration of BiH. If he constantly remains silent, he is not only an accomplice but directly aids those destructive forces of the Dodik type. It is time for the High Representative to step onto the stage and act in accordance with the mission entrusted to him, not to participate in the creation of a new Palestine in the middle of Europe."

Can Bosniaks survive without BiH?

"I think they cannot survive. In that worst-case scenario, which I refuse to believe, in the creation of some 'Bosniakstan,' a Bosniak entity or state, what would happen? It would undoubtedly be the creation of Gaza, the Palestinization of Bosniaks, the creation of Gaza in Europe. This means they would be confined to a certain territory, and such confinement to a certain territory is very unfavorable in the current constellations within BiH, in our surroundings, and in Islamophobic Europe. What would happen then? I have no doubt that in that part of 'Bosniak Palestine' in Europe, it would inevitably happen that Muslims, Bosniaks, would dramatically radicalize. And they are trying to impose this on us now. In that case, Esad Duraković, you, and people like us, people who care about a multi-ethnic BiH, would not be able to speak publicly like this. We might even be exposed to threats of liquidation. Such a BiH would radicalize, it could not survive. Bosniaks can survive only in a multi-ethnic BiH, within its framework. Not through any revenge, not through any extremism, but only with the help of cosmopolitanism."

When asked if there is a plan regarding BiH, Duraković said that it is possible.

"The opposition is not up to the task. It is completely immature. I have told some leaders of these parties to subordinate all their vanities, all party and particular interests to the state because it is the most important. They have indulged my suggestions, but again it has shown that there is no unity among them. They do not see beyond one election to the next. They lack a vision for the statehood of the country. The situation in society largely depends on the opposition, which should be a strong corrective to the position."

He recalled that even before the discovery of the "Salafist" affair and the involvement of the Croatian Security Intelligence Agency, there were statements from that country about the radicalization of Bosniaks.

"We have been talking all along about domestic disuniting factors and foreign factors. These are certainly Dodik and Čović. It must be taken into account that both countries committed aggression against BiH. We know very well who fought here. They are oriented towards the same prey, which is BiH. That's why Čović goes to Belgrade so freely. They will tear BiH apart more easily if they unite."

It would be very good if the friends of BiH, and I know there are very many of them in those two countries, raised their voices against this in favor of BiH.

Academician Duraković stated that HDZ BiH is an outpost of Tuđman's HDZ, while Dodik acts on the orders of institutions from Serbia.

"They are interested in the 'the worse, the better' principle, so they would have an argument that the only way out is disintegration. People would suffer then. In Serbia, for 25 years, people who participated in the aggression against BiH, who shot at Sarajevo, have been in positions. The only thing that could happen is for the authority of the international community to order those two countries to let go of BiH."

When asked if it is an exaggeration to mention war and conflict, Duraković said that we have reasons to be concerned.

"I do not believe there will be a war. BiH survived 1992-1995 when it had an arms embargo. We are obliged to be engaged in the defense of BiH. We cannot expect someone else to save the country if we, the patriots, do not fight for it. We must be aware that it is in danger. The international community, the EU, America can help us if they see that we care about BiH, that we are fighting genuinely. BiH will not fail, but let us do everything we can to preserve it before it is too late."

The academician concluded that hope should not be lost, but everyone must understand how serious the situation is.
