Academy 'Healthy Future' and Patient Association: Free Spirometry Marks World Lung Day

(Patria) - The Association of Patients with Allergy, Asthma and Atopic Dermatitis in Bosnia and
Herzegovina (AAA Association) in cooperation with the Football Academy “Healthy Future” marked World Lung Day with free spirometry (lung function measurement) under the slogan "Access to therapy for all patients. Without exception".

The lung function measurement campaign was carried out at the newly opened Sports and Recreation
Center “Čarli” Emir Bogunić in Ilidža.

The goal of this year's check-ups was also to dispel the stigma that sports are not suitable for children with asthma. The young footballers of the Healthy Future Academy were the test group through which we proved that sport is a friend of asthma! The examinations were conducted by esteemed Dr. Gorana Krstović, specialist pulmonologist, prim. mr. sci. med.

Spirometry is especially recommended for those who have some of the following symptoms: cough (most often at night and during exertion), difficulty breathing, wheezing and tightness in the chest, as well as shortness of breath, in order to check the condition of their airways and receive professional medical advice. We certainly invite parents of children who are in sports to join us.

The free spirometry campaign is conducted under the motto "Access to therapy for all patients. Without exception" and is one of the activities carried out annually by the Forum of International
Respiratory Societies (FIRS), of which the AAA Association in BiH is a member.

Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world and the most common chronic disease in children. Its characteristics are chronic breathing problems and symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness and coughing. The prevalence (number of patients) of asthma is increasing, and it is predicted that by 2025 there will be 400 million people with asthma in the world.
