Ajnadžić spoke with a representative of the "Black Swans" Association

Chairman of the Centar Municipal Council Nedžad Ajnadžić and the assistant mayor for veterans' affairs, Đulaga Hamza, hosted representatives of the Veterans' Association „Black Swans“ led by the Association's president, Avdo Subašić. The visit was prompted by a discussion on financial support from the Centar Municipality for the Association's activities, as announced by the Centar Municipality, reports the Patria news agency.

The „Black Swans“ Association was founded three years ago, and its program activities aim to preserve the achievements of the defensive-liberation struggle of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the war path of the „Black Swans“ unit, which made a significant contribution to the defense of the country.

The unit was composed of fighters from 56 municipalities across Bosnia and Herzegovina and participated in the defensive-liberation struggle in the zones of responsibility of all corps within the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the liberation and defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 79 members of the unit from municipalities throughout our country gave their lives.

-After the formation of the Association, we set ourselves the task of preserving our fighters and martyrs from oblivion, because unfortunately, after the end of the war, they were often neglected by all relevant institutions. With that intention, the Association's board launched an initiative to build a central memorial to the martyrs of the „Black Swans“ unit in Nedžarići. The memorial is a sign of remembrance for those who gave their lives for their homeland, and it should also serve as a reminder for future generations.

The project to build the memorial costs 155,000 marks, and so far we have managed to raise 55,000 KM. We plan to complete the project by the end of the year, and to succeed in that intention, we need the help of all well-meaning people and institutions. We are grateful to the representatives of the Centar Municipality for agreeing to hear us out and help within the limits of their capabilities, Subašić pointed out.

Chairman Ajnadžić expressed satisfaction that the members of this unit recognized the good practice of the Centar Municipality in supporting the veteran population.

-The Centar Municipality will provide support for everything that strengthens the achievements of the defensive-liberation war, including your project. At this moment, we cannot say with certainty what the amount of funds will be, as it depends on a number of factors, but we will certainly help this project through a budget rebalancing, concluded Ajnadžić, the statement reads.
