Ajnadžić: The 1st Corps defended BiH, we will see how much politicians will respect the anniversary

The anniversary of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH is an important day for all patriots and defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also for politicians. Therefore, we will see to what extent politicians will respond to the corps' anniversary tomorrow, and I invite them all to come, said General Nedžad Ajnadžić, wartime commander of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH, for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP).

The most significant corps of the Army of RBiH, in whose zone of responsibility was also the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was founded on September 1, 1992. The first commander was Mustafa Hajrulahović Talijan, and the commanders of this corps later included Generals Vahid Karavelić and Nedžad Ajnadžić.

- If Sarajevo had fallen, the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina would have fallen – says Ajnadžić.

-That is why the 1st Corps was the corps with the largest zone of responsibility, with the largest number of brigades, it is the corps that defended the capital of BiH as an administrative center, and in that context its responsibility was increased compared to other corps, although, it is clear, all corps made a very significant contribution to the defense of the country – added Ajnadžić.

The First Corps of the Army of RBiH was one of seven corps within the Army of RBiH. At the very beginning of the Serbian aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, it had 34,500 members, and by 1995, the number had grown to 40,500 members.

As many as 472 members of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH were awarded the highest wartime recognition "Golden Lily", 19 members with the wartime recognition "Silver Shield", while 29 members were awarded the highest state recognitions by the Presidency of BiH. In addition, three brigades within this corps were awarded the collective recognition "Glorious" and four brigades the highest collective recognition "Knightly".

- The fighters did an honorable job, unlike those who fled Bosnia and Herzegovina when it needed them most. Unfortunately, many of those who fled today have better positions in the social community than those who defended the country – warned Ajnadžić, writes NAP.

The anniversary of the First Corps of the Army of RBiH will be marked tomorrow in the Sarajevo hall Skenderija.
