Agram Affair: Evidence against Bandić obtained through wiretapping declared illegal

The indictment council in the Milan Bandić case has declared all evidence obtained through wiretapping illegal, N1 reports, according to the Patria News Agency.

At the Zagreb County Court, the hearing on the merits of the indictment against Milan Bandić and 15 other co-defendants and two legal entities in the Agram affair has begun. They are accused of damaging the City of Zagreb and the state by 26 million kuna.

Milan Bandić did not appear at the County Court, HRT writes, nor were his co-defendants Slobodan Ljubičić and Petar Pripuz seen. The accused are not obliged to attend the session after which the indictment council can confirm, reject, or return the indictment to the prosecution for a decision.

The council needs to decide whether to confirm the indictment, reject it, or possibly return it to the prosecution for revision. If the indictment is confirmed, the court will schedule a preliminary hearing at which, among other things, the date for the start of a possible trial will be set, Index writes.
