Bar Associations United: Urgent Investigation Following Attack on Mirsad Crnovršanin

(Patria) - Lawyer Mirsad Crnovršanin was attacked in Sarajevo, and on the same day, a car belonging to him was set on fire.

This incident has caused strong reactions from the judicial community. The Bar Association of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bar Association of Republika Srpska, in a joint statement, have most strongly condemned the attack, demanding that the competent authorities urgently activate all available capacities to fully shed light on this case.

"The attack on lawyer Crnovršanin most clearly shows the circumstances under which lawyers in Bosnia and Herzegovina carry out their professional activities. This is just the latest in a series of attacks on lawyers in our country," stated the announcement signed by the president of the Bar Association of the Federation of BiH, Bekir Gavrankapetanović, and the president of the Bar Association of RS, Darko Kremenović.

The associations emphasize that the safety of lawyers and all judicial officials is a prerequisite for the safety of society as a whole and for the rule of law. Therefore, they call on state institutions to take all necessary measures to protect lawyers and other members of the legal professions, and to bring the perpetrators of this criminal offense to justice as soon as possible.
