Lawyers demand Konaković explain on which laws he plans to take over the Tourist Board

The law office of Sarajevo lawyer Ahmed Žilić requested an urgent statement from the KS Government and the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office regarding the actions of KS Prime Minister Elmedin Konaković, who announced that the KS Government is taking over the jurisdiction of the KS Tourist Board, reports Patria.

The law office is requesting a written statement from the Prime Minister himself. A statement has also been requested from the Federal Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

At the end of July, Prime Minister Konaković visited the premises of the KS Tourist Board unannounced. He told employees that the Tourist Board practically does not exist and that the KS Government is taking over its jurisdiction. The Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Internal Affairs Vedran Mulabdić and the Deputy Cantonal Prosecutor Adem Festić.

The Prime Minister claims that by taking over the Tourist Board, he will improve the collection of tourist taxes in Sarajevo. The KS Tourist Board strongly denies this. They explain that if there are sincere intentions, the cantonal inspection can already improve tax collection. They assessed the Prime Minister's surprise visit as direct pressure on the work of the Tourist Board and its management. The Prime Minister, the Tourist Board states, wants to control the work of the Tourist Board for personal interests.

Žilić's law office also believes that Prime Minister Konaković is seriously violating laws with his actions. He makes decisions on his own initiative, without respecting procedures.

In the letter sent by the legal experts to the KS Government, all government ministries, the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, and the Federal Ministry of Tourism, it is requested, among other things, that Prime Minister Konaković explain on the basis of which legal provisions he plans to take over the KS Tourist Board. The lawyers are also interested in whether the KS Government had previously made any decision to take over the Tourist Board, or whether there was a decision regarding the visit of their mixed delegation to the KS Tourist Board, reports Patria.
