Adil Osmanović participates in the WHO Regional Committee for Europe session

The delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 67th session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe

The delegation of health authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH, Adil Osmanović, is participating in the 67th session of the Regional Committee of the World Health Organization (WHO) held in Budapest from September 11-14.

The 13th General Programme of Work of the World Health Organization for the period 2019-2023, with the motto 'Keep the world safe, improve health, protect the vulnerable,' will be presented at the regular annual session.

A discussion will be held on the Roadmap for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, based on the Health 2020 policy framework, focusing on opportunities and challenges for public health in the 21st century in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and the Health 2020 policy framework, as well as the Joint Monitoring Framework.

Within the agenda item on improving the environment and health in the context of the Health 2020 policy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the results of the 6th Ministerial Conference on Environment and Health will be presented.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has been given the opportunity at this session to present its progress in the area of early growth and development programs, which health, education, and social protection institutions have been successfully implementing for 10 years with the support of UNICEF and other donors.

On the sidelines of the 67th session of the Regional Committee, a meeting will be held between the delegation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the WHO Regional Director for Europe, Zsuszanna Jakab. During this meeting, current and future activities that are being or will be implemented in Bosnia and Herzegovina in cooperation with and with the support of the WHO will be discussed.

These activities are defined by the Biennial Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

WHO support for the health sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina will contribute to the development of new and improvement of existing public health policy documents, with a focus on controlling the burden of non-communicable diseases, promoting health throughout the life cycle, and health information systems.

Representatives of health ministries from 53 member states of the World Health Organization from Europe are attending the Regional Committee session.
