A primary school for children of Croat nationality opened up in Kiseljak

Pupils of the secondary school 'Nikola Sop' and the secondary Vocational school in Jajce succeeded in stopping divisions between them, after the local government tried to open separate schools for Bosniak and Croat children. However, divisions could not have been stopped in Kiseljak.

Yesterday, community of Brestovsko near Kiseljak saw the official opening of Primary school Brestovsko with exclusively Croat curriculum for children of Croat nationality solely. Bosniak children will remain in the old school building, in the same community, only 1.5 km away.

Before this development, there were two schools under one roof – Primary school Kiseljak 1 and Primary school Brestovsko. The former had a Bosnian curriculum and the latter a Croat one. Considering that the Supreme Court of BiH banned the concept of 'two schools under one roof', the local government, instead of having one school for all children, they also divided them physically.

This year, the pupils of Croat nationality will attend classes in their new school situated in a renovated Community House, while their Bosniak peers will remain in the old school. The new school was officially opened by HDZ BiH leader Dragan Covic.
