515th Days of Ajvatovica: Rich religious and cultural program from June 13 to 29

(Patria) - The cultural and religious event "515th Days of Ajvatovica" will be officially opened tomorrow in Prusac, which will offer a diverse program with more than 70 contents during 16 days – from religious programs and lectures to book promotions, sports competitions, and cultural events.

The president of the Organizing Committee, Travnik Mufti dr. Ahmed-ef. Adilović, pointed out at today's press conference in Travnik that Ajvatovica has preserved the identity of Bosniaks for more than five centuries and emphasized that this year's event will focus on the genocide in Srebrenica, as well as the suffering of the people of Gaza.

Among this year's novelties is the inclusion of the chief imams of the Travnik Mufti's Office as khateebs in various medžlis.

– A religious program will be held in the Hasan Kjafija Pruščak mosque before the central ceremony. Also, the central mevlud ceremony is planned to be held in Travnik, on the occasion of the New Hijri Year – added Mufti Adilović.

A special program is also planned for the reception of horsemen, and numerous delegations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Turkey are expected, as discussed by a member of the Organizing Committee and the Mayor of Donji Vakuf Municipality, Senad Selimović.

Elči Ibrahim-paša Madrasa will host a series of activities, and the assistant director of this institution, mr. Dževdet Šošić, announced the premiere performance of the qasida "Ajvatovica", performed by the Madrasa choir and Latif Močević.

– We are always ready to welcome our guests, but also to feel good as hosts. This year's central Friday prayer will be led, and the khutbah will be delivered by the president of the Mešihat of the Islamic Community in Serbia, Mufti Mevlud-ef. Dudić. I would like to invite all people to visit us because we have prepared a very rich program. We are also pleased that our reisul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović will address us at the central ceremony this year – announced the chief imam of the Medžlis of the Islamic Community Donji Vakuf, Amir-ef. Čavak.

Ajvatovica is the largest prayer gathering place for Muslims in Europe and one of the oldest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, deeply rooted in the identity of Bosniaks. Today, it is a meeting place for tens of thousands of Muslims.

The opening ceremony program of the "515th Days of Ajvatovica" is scheduled for Friday, June 13, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Musalla in Prusac, while the central program will be held on Sunday, June 29, on the Ajvatovica plateau, starting at 11:00 AM.
