500 competitors from 33 countries worldwide at taekwondo tournament in Sarajevo

The first international taekwondo G1 tournament "Bosnia Open" started today in the "Ramiz Salčin" hall in Mojmilo, writes the Patria News Agency.

Over 500 competitors from 33 countries worldwide will participate in the competition. Bosnia Open is the first sports event of its kind in BiH, and the tournament is point-based and ranks for the world rankings as well as for qualifications for the Olympic Games.

Current European, world, and Olympic champions and medalists have announced their arrival at the competition, which is, of course, a treat for all fans of this sport.

TKD Club Zlatni Ljiljani emphasizes that this competition is on the World Taekwondo Federation calendar.

This is a WTF G1 tournament, which means points are awarded for the world rankings as well as for the 2016 Olympic Games. Current world and Olympic champions are here. We have made an effort, we have brought competitors from 33 countries, 106 teams, about 530 competitors. We have 12 competitors from BiH, and this tournament will serve as experience for them for other tournaments and the next Olympic Games, as we currently do not have competitors who could compete for the Olympics next year," said Ahmet Dilek, the tournament organizer.

The competition lasts for two days, in different weight categories, and the final fights are scheduled for this evening and tomorrow afternoon.
