44 municipalities with 1.7 million people affected by floods and landslides!

Reports from the Civil Protection of FBiH and RS covered 44 municipalities in BiH and Brčko District, or 1,674,779 people affected by floods and landslides and in which there are major consequences, writes the BiH news agency Patria.

Namely, the reports of the entity civil protections state that most municipalities were affected by floods, and after the water receded, there was a danger of activated landslides, while in some, a large number of landslides were recorded, but not floods. Such an example is the Municipality of Tuzla, in which several hundred landslides were registered. According to preliminary data from the 2013 Census, the number of people living in this municipality is 120,441.

On the other hand, there are municipalities that suffered devastating floods, such as Maglaj, Zavidovići, Lukavac, Olovo, Orašje, Odžak, Domaljevac-Šamac, Visoko, Žepče, and Živinice, and then landslides began to threaten. The number of people in these ten municipalities is 263,433. The situation with landslides is severe in the Municipality of Vogošća in the settlement of Srake, where fifteen houses, auxiliary buildings, and cars were destroyed, and it is questionable whether people will ever be able to return to that area. Otherwise, the number of people in this municipality is 27,816.

The situation is also worrying in the municipalities of Sapna, Doboj-Istok, Doboj-Jug, which have a population of 27,411. Together with the Municipality of Tuzla, this makes a total of 411,285 people in FBiH who are endangered by floods and landslides, writes Patria.

In RS, the municipalities of Šamac, Doboj, Vlasenica, Prijedor, Šekovići, Modriča, Donji Žabar, Bijeljina, Bratunac, and Čelinac were under a water surge, and landslides were also activated. The number of people from these ten municipalities is 386,621.

According to the 2013 Census, the number of people in the Brčko District, which is on the Sava River itself, is 93,028. This analysis included municipalities where the greatest damage and danger from landslides were recorded, but the data are in any case not final until the competent institutions make statements and damage assessments.
