3,201 people changed their name: Mara became Sabina, and Ševket is now Šefket

Last year, 3,201 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted a request for a change of personal name, and most did so due to incorrect data, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

From the Agency for Identification Documents, Registers and Data Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA), they stated that 326 citizens requested a name change at their own request, the request of parents, adoptive parents and guardians.

A request for a change of personal name is submitted to the local police administration.

From IDDEEA, we obtained data on name changes, so last year one Ševket became Šefket, Najla is now Naila.

There were also different changes, so Mara became Sabina, Renato Tino, Đorđe Djordje...

Smilja in 2014 became Hadži Smilja, while Faruka added Fani to that name, so now she is Faruka-Fani. Interestingly, until last year in Bosnia and Herzegovina there was a Martina-Marseljeza, but she decided to be just Martina, writes Patria.
