October 26th should be the state holiday Day of Bosnian Kings

At the burial and coronation site of Bosnian kings in Mile near Visoko, October 26th was marked, the day when one of the greatest Bosnian rulers, Tvrtko I Kotromanić, was crowned in 1377, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The marking of this important historical date was organized by members of the World Bosniak Congress, led by president Dr. Mustafa Cerić, who also addressed the attendees.

– On this day in 1377, Tvrtko I Kotromanić was crowned at this place, the Bosnian king and founder of the Bosnian kingdom, and the person who elevated Bosnia in the broadest sense of its statehood, and the idea of lilies, which became a symbol of the independence of the modern state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, originated here – Cerić emphasized.

The World Bosniak Congress will advocate for the commemoration of such dates and places in the future, and during this gathering, an initiative was launched to declare October 26th a state holiday and to proclaim it as the Day of Bosnian Kings.

– Today, I also invite all recipients of the "Golden Lily" to gather in larger numbers next year and, through this act of our gathering, revive the beauty of the lilies with which many Bosniaks of all faiths gave their lives in defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina's statehood. The proposal is also to commemorate October 26th as the day of remembrance for the "Golden Lilies". Željko Komšić is a recipient of the "Golden Lily" and the current member of the Presidency, and he should have been here together with Izetbegović and Radmanović, as well as the newly elected government representatives. That is why today, from this place, we are launching an initiative with the demand that October 26th be commemorated as the Day of Bosnian Kings – said Dr. Cerić.
