20th SFF opened with the sevdalinka "Last night I came to your court, Safo"

With the sevdalinka "Last night I came to your court, Safo", Božo Vrećo marked the beginning of the opening ceremony of the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival, reports the reporter of the BH News Agency Patria (NAP).

The festival opened at the HT Eronet Open Air Cinema, and the host of the opening was BH actor Adnan Hasković. SFF Director Mirsad Purivatra presented the Honorary Heart of Sarajevo award to Mexican actor Gael García Bernal. Visibly excited, Bernal addressed the audience with a few words in Bosnian. He expressed his satisfaction that the film "Amores Perros" will be screened at the 20th SFF after 16 years since its filming. More than 1,500 viewers welcomed Bernal on stage before the screening of the cult film "Amores Perros", in which he plays the main role, and greeted him with thunderous applause.

Films "Amores Perros" (Open Air), "Bridges of Sarajevo" (National Theatre), and "Of Horses and Men" (Meeting Point) are being screened at three locations in Sarajevo tonight.

A formal reception for dignitaries and guests begins at 9:15 PM at the National Theatre Sarajevo, and BHT1 is broadcasting the opening of the 20th SFF.

The 20th SFF will present 247 films in 19 sections from all over the world over nine days.

Until August 23, international guests, including winners of prestigious awards at world film festivals in Cannes, Berlin, and Venice, will be presented to the numerous audience of the Sarajevo Film Festival.

Among the guests of the 20th SFF will be three Oscar winners. Director Michel Hazanavicius will present the film "The Search". There is also the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Oscar winner Danis Tanović, and actress Melissa Leo is an Oscar winner for her role as a mother in the film "The Fighter", which will also be screened at the festival.

All leading world media have accredited their journalistic teams for this year's SFF, writes NAP.
