20 JULY Remains of Seven Prijedor Victims Ready for Collective Funeral Prayer and Burial at the Kamičani Memorial Centre

(Patria) - The remains of seven Prijedor victims are ready for burial after a collective funeral prayer that will be held on 20 July this year at the Kamičani Memorial Centre in Kozarac. The victims are of Bosniak ethnicity, killed in 1992 in the areas of Kozarac, Hambarine, Rizvanovići and Prijedor, and their remains were exhumed in 1998 and 2024 at the sites of Donja Dragotinja, Pašinac, Volarić and Hušići.

The youngest victim to be buried this year is Čelić (Aziza) Semir, who was 24 years old when killed. He was born in 1968 in Prijedor, where he also disappeared in August 1992. His remains were found 32 years after his death, last year, when a mass grave was discovered at the Donja Dragotinja, Grbići site near Prijedor.

He will be buried this year together with his brother Edin, one year his senior, who was also killed in August 1992. The remains of the two young men were found in the same mass grave in April 2024.

The oldest victim to be buried this year is Bajrektarević (Hasan) Kasim, who was 70 years old at the time of death. He was killed in Prijedor, and his remains were exhumed at the Pašinac site, Prijedor, in 1998.

Victims to be buried this year in Prijedor:

-Sušić (Meho) Ismet, born 1931 in Kozaruša near Prijedor;
-Čelić (Aziz) Edin, born 1967 in Zagreb;
-Čelić (Aziz) Semir, born 1968 in Hambarine – Prijedor;
-Čikotić (Mehmed) Mehemed, born 1960 in Hambarine – Prijedor;
-Zečić (Idriz) Mirsad, born 1967 in Prijedor;
-Bajrektarević (Hasan) Kasim, born 1922 in Kamičani – Kozarac;
-Alagić (Islam) Omer, born 1930 in Rizvanovići – Prijedor.


These victims will be buried in different cemeteries after the funeral prayer, in accordance with the wishes of their families. In Kamičani, Sušić Ismet and Bajrektarević Kasim will be buried; in the Šehidsko Cemetery Hambarine, Čelić Edin, Čelić Semir and Čikotić Mehmed will be buried; while in the Šehidsko Cemetery Bišćani, Alagić Omer will be buried. In the Šehidsko Cemetery Skela, Zečić Mirsad will find his final rest.

The coffins with the remains of the killed Prijedor victims will be dispatched on 19 July 2025 from the Identification Centre Šejkovača in Sanski Most. The sad convoy with the victims' remains will depart at 11:00, then stop at Trg ljiljana in Sanski Most at 11:30, and later in Ključ at 12:30.

A stop in Bosanski Petrovac is planned in front of the Municipality building at 14:00, while arrival in Bihać is planned at 15:30. The convoy will stop at the City Bridge, where the anthem will be played and honour paid to the victims. In Bosanska Krupa, the convoy's arrival is planned for 17:00, and it will stop at the City Bridge, as well as in Bosanska Otoka at 17:40. The next stop will be in Bosanski Novi near the mosque in Blagaj Rijeka at 18:30, and in Prijedor, in front of the Čaršijska Mosque, at 19:15.

The sad convoy will arrive at the Kamičani Memorial Centre at 20:00, where the funeral prayer and burial will be held for the victims the following day.
