20 Years of Successful Work of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina – 20 Years of Stability

The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) will celebrate 20 years of operation on August 11, 2017. Throughout the years, the CBBH, through its independent and professional work, has established and maintained monetary stability as one of the key factors of macroeconomic stability.

In addition to consistently implementing the currency board arrangement, the CBBH has evolved to contribute to the stability of the financial system, support the country's economic development, and fulfill BiH's international obligations within its competencies.

Key reform processes in the initial years of its establishment included the introduction of a single currency throughout the entire economic area and the reform of non-cash payment transactions, transferring it to commercial banks with a clearing system at the CBBH.

Successfully implemented reforms have provided, among other things, the prerequisites for initiating other processes, such as the banking sector reform, thanks to which citizens of BiH have access to financial services at the level of developed Western economies.

The CBBH has been recognized by relevant domestic and international institutions as an institution with high credibility that continuously aligns its operations with the best global practices, keeping in mind the country's EU aspirations.

As part of the celebration of the upcoming jubilee, the CBBH will organize a series of related activities, including:

The exhibition “On the Trail of Money”, which will be opened on 11.08.2017 at 11:00 AM at the National Museum of BiH, along with the promotion of a commemorative jubilee coin. After the opening, the exhibition will be open to all interested parties from 12.08. to 22.09.2017 (exhibition opening with the presence of media representatives);

The international conference “20 Years of Stability” on 22.09.2017, which will gather government representatives, governors and other representatives of central banks, as well as EU policymakers and experts, and international financial institutions (with the presence of media representatives);

The promotion of the CBBH monograph on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the CBBH;

The celebration of Savings Day on 31.10.2017;

For events that will be open to the presence of media representatives, the CBBH will send separate announcements with detailed information in a timely manner.
