100,000 unprocessed applications: Record number for voting from abroad

(Patria) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks all BiH citizens living abroad who have exercised their democratic right and registered to vote in the Local Elections on November 15, 2020, by midnight on September 1st.

The record number of registered individuals, which according to the latest information amounts to over 100,000 unprocessed applications received, shows the growing responsibility of BiH citizens towards their homeland, as well as their desire to shape the future of local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina through their participation in democratic processes.

For the first time this year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs established a Support Team for the Implementation of Local Elections, which was available to BiH citizens daily over the past month, aiming to improve information and resolve registration issues. Members of this Team have also held a series of meetings in diplomatic-consular missions of Bosnia and Herzegovina in several European countries during the past period, attended by representatives of BiH associations and clubs.

Through the formation of the team and activities in the past period, and the engagement of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian diplomatic-consular network, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina have been further encouraged to register for the elections.

"The number of registered citizens for voting by mail and at DKP's is a significant step forward in the development of awareness among BiH citizens about participating in elections, as well as in the maturation of their relationship towards their homeland. The MFA's activities through meetings at embassies and consulates, where BiH citizens presented their problems and suggestions, is the path that should be continued in the future to build relations with our citizens abroad. The responsibility of BiH citizens and their interest in participating in processes in their homeland is an additional motivation for us to continue building and improving relations that will satisfy the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
