Zvizdić in Vienna: Reform Agenda Will Not Remain a Dead Letter

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić is participating in a working session of prime ministers dedicated to the economic situation and reform processes in the region of the Western Balkans Summit, which is being held today in Vienna, reports the Patria News Agency.

Zvizdić stated that thanks precisely to the new approach of the European Union, as well as the expressed commitment of the BiH authorities to implement necessary reforms, confirmed by the Statement of the BiH Presidency, Bosnia and Herzegovina, after a series of years marked by insufficient progress in the process of European integration as well as in other reform processes, is entering a new chapter in its relations with the European Union.

- The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, since its formation in April this year, has confirmed its determination, persistence, and necessary consensus in implementing the required reforms in strategically priority areas, namely in the area of economic reforms, dynamizing the EU integration process, the rule of law and the fight against terrorism and all forms of organized crime and corruption, as well as strengthening regional cooperation – Zvizdić emphasized.

The key document for the implementation of socio-economic reforms is the Reform Agenda, which was adopted by all levels of government in BiH as of July 27 this year.

- I want to emphasize that all levels of government, including the state, entity, Brčko District, and cantonal levels, have recognized the significance of this document, i.e., the importance of implementing all the stated measures with the aim of ensuring the foundation for the country's much-needed economic growth – Zvizdić added.

The Prime Minister also underlined that he wants to assure those present that this is not another document that will remain a dead letter.

- The necessary reforms are not simple at all, some of them are unpopular and produce a strong public reaction because they do not suit those categories in society who are accustomed to certain privileges that are a relic of past times and as such have no place in a modern and development-oriented BiH economy – Zvizdić added.
