SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić discussed today in Sarajevo with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States of America Matthew A. Palmer about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
Chairman Zvizdić stated that Euro-Atlantic integration remains the main foreign policy priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina, while domestically, comprehensive reforms are being implemented to create a favorable business environment, attract investments, create new jobs, and accelerate economic development. He informed Palmer that BiH institutions have fulfilled all European Commission requirements for obtaining candidate status, and expressed his expectation that the European Commission will approve candidate status for our country by the end of this year, which would usher in a new phase in BiH-EU relations and further solidify Bosnia and Herzegovina on the European track.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the USA, Palmer, emphasized that the USA remains a firm and committed friend of Bosnia and Herzegovina in reform processes and Euro-Atlantic integration.
Chairman Zvizdić stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina actively participates in and supports all regional programs and projects that contribute to connectivity, economic development, and ensuring peace and stability in the region. As a positive example of good neighborly cooperation, he cited the resolution of the border issue with Montenegro and stressed that similar agreements should be signed and ratified with other neighbors, which would permanently put an end to discussions about borders in the Western Balkans and further relax political relations in the region.
The meeting was attended by the US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson.
