Zvizdić on controversial distribution: Common good must be above ethnic, local, or party interests

(Patria) - Denis Zvizdić, member of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament, reacted to the distribution of funds to cities and municipalities, which has caused a major public outcry.

"I am reading the table of distribution of funds that the FBiH Government allocated to cities and municipalities 'for the purpose of assisting in taking preventive measures in the fight against COVID-19 and remediating the consequences caused by the declared pandemic', and I cannot believe that the FBiH Government has truly adopted such an illogical, unreasonable, and unfair decision on the distribution of funds to cities and municipalities.

If it is true that the decision has been adopted, then a serious explanation is necessary based on what criteria the funds were distributed, but, since I am sure that the criteria do not exist or if they exist, they are only fictitiously stated, because they are in conflict with relevant facts, they are completely unobjective, and mathematically and humanly unsustainable, then it is urgent that such a decision be changed immediately and aligned with the current situation in the entire FBiH, because we are all in the same situation, the same danger, and the same need, and such differences (of which I will list only some in the continuation of the text) are contrary to the concepts of justice, fairness, expertise, and solidarity," Zvizdić wrote.

He further points out that some data are unacceptable to common sense and unsustainable, especially considering that the decision states the number of inhabitants as the first and most important criterion:

Criterion: Number of inhabitants and, in accordance with that, the amount of funds that cities and municipalities received per capita from the FBiH Government:

Cazin has 67,000 inhabitants and received 56,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 0.72 KM per capita,
Visoko has 40,000 inhabitants and received 40,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 1.00 KM per capita,
Kiseljak has approx. 24,000 inhabitants, received 300,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 12.50 KM per capita,
Kupres has approx. 5,000 inhabitants and received 700,000 KM (?!), which is 140 KM per capita,
Široki Brijeg has 29,000 inhabitants and received 550,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which amounts to 19 KM per capita,
Novi Travnik has 24,000 inhabitants and received 1,200,000 KM (??!!), which amounts to 50 KM per capita,
Mostar has 105,000 inhabitants and received 150,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 1.42 KM per capita,
Čitluk has 19,000 inhabitants and received 300,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 15.8 KM per capita,
Donji Vakuf has 15,000 inhabitants and received 40,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 0.37 KM per capita,
Tešanj has 46,000 inhabitants and received 30,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 1.5 KM per capita,
Grude has 18,000 inhabitants and received 200,000 KM from the Government, which is 11.00 KM per capita,
Bihać has 56,000 inhabitants and received 234,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which amounts to 4.00 KM per capita,
Sanski Most has 48,000 inhabitants and received 100,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which amounts to 2.20 KM per capita,
Posušje has 20,000 inhabitants and received 200,000 KM from the FBiH Government, which is 10.00 KM per capita.

I think it is clear after such data why such a discriminatory decision must be changed so that every inhabitant of the FBiH is treated equally, because the coronavirus does not recognize ethnic or political affiliation. Therefore, to restore balance, the common good must be above ethnic, local, or party interests," Zvizdić wrote.
