Zvizdić and Erginay: Improving Economic Cooperation between BiH and Turkey

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Dr. Denis Zvizdić, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to BiH, Cihad Erginay, in Sarajevo today, with whom he discussed improving the economic cooperation between the two friendly countries, reports the Patria News Agency.

Ambassador Erginay congratulated Chairman Zvizdić on his appointment and wished him success in his work, as well as success for the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina in all fields. He emphasized that the relations between BiH and Turkey are on an upward trajectory, which will be crowned by the upcoming official visits of high-ranking officials from the Republic of Turkey, during which a series of bilateral agreements are expected to be signed, formalizing the good cooperation.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked him for the congratulations and expressed gratitude to the Republic of Turkey for its continuous support to BiH, particularly highlighting the recent credit line of 100 million euros, through which nearly 6,000 people have been employed so far, mainly in agriculture. He informed Ambassador Erginay about the priorities of the Council of Ministers of BiH, emphasizing the activation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) and the Membership Action Plan (MAP) by the end of the year, which would turn BiH towards Euro-Atlantic integration.

Chairman Zvizdić stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina desires an improvement in the economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of tourism, energy, agriculture, and infrastructure development. He emphasized that BiH is interested in connecting tourism communities to better present the tourism potentials of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Turkey.

In this regard, Chairman Zvizdić praised the activities of the Turkish development agency TIKA in BiH, which is engaged in the restoration of cultural and historical monuments that represent a significant cultural bridge between the two countries. He added that there is also interest in connecting companies for joint ventures in third markets, as well as for the transfer of knowledge and experience in the development of the small and medium-sized enterprises sector, which is the backbone of development and employment.

Ambassador Erginay stated that Turkey unequivocally supports the Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH, as announced by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
