Žuljević: Why Are Problems in the BiH Power System Being Hidden?

MOSTAR, (Patria) - Delegate in the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the Federation Aner Žuljević has published a document in which the State Regulatory Commission for Electric Energy of Bosnia and Herzegovina (DERK) informs the Independent System Operator in BiH (NOS) and Elektroprijenos "of a significant increase in the number of outages of individual transmission system elements."

Outages and permanent failures of power transformers are particularly concerning, states the DERK letter, as reported by the Patria news agency.

"Why is the public being lied to for days about the state of the power system? Yesterday DERK issued a statement informing the public that they have no problems, even though NOS provided them with clear information outlining arguments of all potential risks within its competence. Today I am in possession of a document in which the same DERK informs NOS and Elektroprijenos, I quote: 'on this occasion we point to a significant increase in the number of outages of individual transmission system elements. Outages and permanent failures of power transformers are particularly concerning...'" Žuljević stated.

"I ask the question: why do institutions consult each other about problems within their competence, and then issue statements that do not correspond to the truth?"

"It is obvious that something big is brewing, and time will show who all got involved and why to contaminate the profession in this way, misinform the public, and belittle individuals who only want to promote the truth in public," said Žuljević.

Electricity supply to Aluminij Mostar was suspended on July 10. DERK earlier told Avaz that the security of the power system's operation was not jeopardized after the disconnection of "Aluminij" from the transmission network, as one of the largest consumers.

From DERK, they stated that regular supply to all customers, i.e., users of the power transmission system, as well as the placement of energy from production facilities connected to the transmission network, is ensured.
