The quarter-final pairings of the Champions League were drawn in Nyon, Switzerland. This season's competition is attracting a lot of attention as there are almost no underdogs.
The draw was not seeded, meaning all teams in the draw could be paired against each other, regardless of their country of origin. Only four countries had representatives in the draw: three from Spain, two from Italy and England, and one from Germany.
The pairings were drawn by legendary AC Milan and Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko, who is this season's UEFA Champions League ambassador. The draw decided that Edin Džeko, with his Roma, will play against Barcelona. On the other hand, Miralem Pjanić will play against another Spanish team, Real Madrid, in a repeat of last season's final.
The draw resulted in the following pairings:
Barcelona – Roma
Sevilla – Bayern
Juventus – Real Madrid
Liverpool – Manchester City
The first matches will be played on April 3 and 4, with the return legs taking place a week later.
