On the occasion of marking April 6th, Sarajevo City Day, the City Day Commemoration Program has been presented, and this year it is also significant for the 70th anniversary of Sarajevo's liberation from the shackles of World War II, writes the BH News Agency Patria.
For the first time, a ceremonial session will be held on this day in the renovated City Hall.
The Mayor of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić, stated that April 6th is one of the most significant dates in the modern history of the city of Sarajevo, and thus of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He spoke about the significance of this date, which marked our past and determined our future, in the context of the events of April 6, 1941, April 6, 1945, and April 6, 1992.
This year again, a program of sports and cultural events has been prepared under the auspices of the City of Sarajevo, emphasized Mayor Komšić. The program will start on April 3rd and last until April 11th. Events intended for children and youth, as well as various international sports and cultural events, will be held.
- In addition, this year it is very significant for us that numerous guests from friendly and sister cities will mark City Day with us. Our invitation has been accepted by mayors of the cities of: Ljubljana (Slovenia), Bad Ischl (Austria), Gödöllő (Hungary), Novi Pazar (Serbia), deputy mayors of the City of Podgorica, deputy mayor of the City of Pula, special senior advisor to the mayor of the City of Zagreb, and a representative of the Bosniak National Community of the City of Dubrovnik - Komšić stated.
