Winter season in Bjelašnica starts on December 21

The 2014/2015 winter tourist season in Bjelašnica will open on Sunday, December 21, announced the Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Emir Hrenovica, at a press conference today attended by the Mayor of Trnovo Municipality, Ibro Berilo, the director of KJP ZOI '84, Midhat Hubijar, and the director of the hotel "Maršal", Zahid Bešović, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

A special program to mark the opening of the winter season will be held on the plateau in front of the hotel "Maršal" and inside the hotel, starting at 1:00 PM. This year's organizers are the Ministry of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, ZOI '84, and the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board.

- I invite all citizens to attend the event on the opening day of the season. There will be a music program, as well as karaoke for children, and we hope that all facilities will be full that day. In case of snowfall, the children's SKI lift will operate for free, and sledding will be possible at a designated location. The program will also be enriched by a promotional and sales exhibition of handicrafts and a small fair of local eco-products - stated Minister Hrenovica. He added that transportation to Bjelašnica will be provided for all citizens who wish to attend the opening of the winter season on Sunday.

He also emphasized that cooperation has been established with the Municipality of Trnovo, as well as with the Public Enterprise ZOI 84 and KJKP "Sarajevo-šume" in order to improve the offerings of Bjelašnica and Igman.

The director of the hotel "Maršal", Zahid Bešović, said that approximately 2,000 portions of beans and tea will be provided for all visitors attending the opening. According to him, in case of bad weather on Sunday, an indoor space will be provided for the planned event.

The Mayor of Trnovo Municipality, Ibro Berilo, stated that the municipality is also interested in cooperating and being part of the winter season and offerings on Igman and Bjelašnica.

- We have a vision and are ready to work together and improve the area. We will have an investment of 30 million marks during the next year, new facilities, and the beginning of the construction of a public garage, and we will try to build a mini-bazaar. I hope that next year we will have new investments and work on new urban projects. We have already completed the conceptual design for the construction of a settlement at the Bukova ravni location - said Berilo.

The director of the Cantonal Public Enterprise ZOI'84, Midhat Hubijar, pointed out that ZOI'84 is currently not in a position to adequately and independently carry out what is related to the opening of the winter season, and added that, despite this, everything is ready for the opening of the season, including the slopes and lifts.

- I would ask all citizens of Sarajevo to come to the opening of the season, and for everything else concerning ZOI'84, we will do our utmost to meet expectations and provide a quality offer on our Olympic mountains. On the opening day, there will also be free skiing for everyone, if there is snow - said Hubijar, adding that discounts have been prepared for all citizens who had a season ski pass last season.
